Vision & Strategy overview:

Veeam’s vision: to be the most trusted of Cloud Data Management solutions to meet the expectations of a world that demands the availability, agility and business acceleration of data. Data Management is the new expectation for data in today’s enterprise. Data must move to a new state of intelligence, able to automatically anticipate the need and meet demand. Data must securely move across multi-cloud infrastructures. And data must meet the expectations of the mobile, always-on world. Cloud Data Management brings new insights from data and rapid increases in productivity to speed the pace of innovation and the delivery of new digital services and experiences that improve how we live work. An enterprise securely automates the provisioning and management of the massive, constant flow of data running across multi-cloud infrastructures. This automated orchestration of data detect suspicious threats in backup with Inline Malware Detection (Yara rules), migrate to the right location based on need with Data Freedom (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, Nutanix, AWS, Microsot Azure etc.), secure itself during anomalous activity, and recover instantaneously. Enterprises that run on Veeam solutions respond faster to any business need, gain multifold improvements inefficiencies, and have far greater agility to deliver new digital services and experiences that improve how we live and work. Veeam Backup for Entra ID was the of the best demo on stage by Mike Resseler, with the introduction of the new Veeam Virtual Appliance (already available in beta).

VeeamON 2025

Veeam’s strategy: Data changes everything – To provide the most complete trusted platform for Veeam and purpore-built for powering data resilience: Data Backup – Data Security (hardware-agnostic security with Data Zero Trust Data Resilience) – Data Recovery – Data Freedom – Data Cloud – Data Intelligence (pioneering AI-driven insights from immutable secured data) that ensures business continuity, reduces risk and accelerates innovation. With Digital Transformation, data has the potential to bring far greater value to our lives and businesses. But today’s data is very different from yesterday’s data, as is the environment in which it lives. Every customer interaction, every employee task, every company operation, every business transaction leaves a trail of data that can be stored and later mined for insights. But only if the organization is prepared and able to do so. Otherwise, the full value of that data is lost.

    Data Resilience Maturity Model:

Only half of organizations meet their recovery time objectives during disruptions, indicating a significant gap in data resilience. To tackle this, Veeam introduced the Data Resilience Maturity Model (DRMM), developed with insights from McKinsey, MIT, and over 500 enterprise executives. The DRMM framework helps organizations integrate data resilience into their IT strategies, with 54% of respondents prioritizing data security. It enables them to better protect, recover, and adapt during disruptions, ultimately minimizing risk and downtime while enhancing recovery readiness.

    Challenge: Data Explosion x Resilience?

Data is the lifebllood of business, and is under threat. The sheer amount of data and its rapid growth is a massive challenge. The size of the digital universe is at least doubling every two years. That means more than 50 fold growth of data in a little over a decade. 150+ ZB created in 2024. Human and machine-generated data together are growing 10x faster than traditional business data, GenAI, and machine data alone is growing at 50x the rate of traditional business data. As data grow and change so do the costs of managing it, not just storing, securing and moving it from place to place but also the lost opportunity costs of not having data where and when you need it, of missed insights, of flawed analysis. There is not only much more data, but there’s also much more data everywhere. Today, apps and data may be located anywhere in the world, in private clouds, public clouds, managed clouds, SaaS clouds, locked in legacy apps and disparate databases with fragmentary ownership, trapped in data silos, lost amongst a myriad of often incompatible devices, systems, and processes. More and more data being generated from emerging sources like Edge Computing and the IoT. We are entering an age where data is produced by nearly everything. Compliance with new regulations like GDPR fo into effect anywhere and that it’s always available for services and users. A recent survey of Veeam found that 69% of respondents who experienced an attack in the last 12 months felt prepared beforehand, but their confidence dropped by over 20% post-attack. The “From Risk to Resilience” report highlights six key trends and provides an in-depth analysis from Coveware by Veeam. It serves as a guide for organizations to develop a comprehensive incident response playbook, identifying five crucial strategies: backup verifications, backup copies and cleanliness, alternative infrastructure arrangements, containment plans, and a pre-defined chain of command. These steps help organizations strengthen their ransomware attack response and data resilience in 2025. Here’s a useful new materials share by Emilee that have been developed to share with end users all when it comes to integrating Veeam Events with your Security Vendors: Seamless Security: Integrating Veeam With Your Security Tools. The document includes how these event IDs are mapped to the MITRE ATT&CK Framework tactics and techniques, as well as providing actionable next steps to consider when investigating alerts in your systems.

    Veeam x AI:

Veeam has introduced an exciting integration with Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), transforming enterprise backup data into a valuable resource for AI. This integration enables AI systems to securely access and utilize data stored in Veeam repositories, enhancing decision-making and driving innovative AI applications. Niraj Tolia, CTO at Veeam, emphasized that this integration goes beyond traditional data backup, allowing customers to leverage their backup data for various AI-driven use cases. These include natural language queries, summarization of archived emails, automated compliance processes, and enriching AI agents with enterprise-specific context. By bridging the gap between protected data and AI tools, Veeam empowers organizations to maximize the value of their data. Support for MCP will be included in future releases of Veeam Data Cloud.
