Veeam Data Platform v13: A new era begins:

The headline announcement was the release of Veeam Data Platform v13, including the much-anticipated Veeam Software Appliance 13.0.1 . This marks a transformative leap in how organizations can deploy, secure, and scale their data protection infrastructure. Veeam Virtual Appliance Step by Step Guide Installation.

Key Innovations in v13:

  • Veeam Software Appliance 13.0.1: This all-in-one, Linux-based backup appliance is fully software-defined and hardware-agnostic. It can protect up to 20,000 workloads and scale to 2PB of internal, immutable storage—making it suitable for the majority of customer environments. You choose the hardware based on your needs, from small sites to large datacenters, ensuring maximum flexibility.
  • Immutability and Security: The appliance is pre-hardened with DISA-STIG security profiles, enforces multi-factor authentication everywhere, and introduces a “Security Officer” role for four-eyes approval on sensitive operations. This true zero-trust architecture means backup admins never need root privileges, and critical changes require explicit approval.
  • Web-First Management: v13 introduces a modern web UI for backup management, offering intuitive dashboards, health scores, and streamlined workflows. While the Windows console remains available, the web interface is set to become the primary management tool for distributed and hybrid environments.
  • High Availability (v13.0.1): For mission-critical deployments, Veeam now supports high-availability clusters with automated failover, real-time monitoring, and seamless updates minimizing downtime and simplifying disaster recovery.
  • Universal CDP: Continuous Data Protection is now available for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads, with real-time replication and recovery points measured in seconds.
  • Direct Backup to Object Storage: All application plugins now support direct backup to object storage with immutability, reducing API calls and storage costs by up to 40% compared to previous versions.
  • Performance at Scale: The new appliance can handle up to 20,000 VMs per backup server, 7,500 agents, and 2PB of storage, with major improvements in backup and restore throughput.

Veeam Data Cloud:

Veeam Data Cloud was a major highlight at the Veeam100 Summit in Prague, capturing the attention of both industry experts and community members. Designed to centralize backup, replication, and recovery management across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, Veeam Data Cloud empowers organizations to protect critical workloads—whether on-premises, in public cloud, or SaaS platforms like Microsoft 365 and Entra ID. The platform stands out for its seamless integration of AI-powered search and threat detection, enabling faster recovery and proactive defense against ransomware. With features like Veeam Vault for secure, immutable cloud storage and automated compliance tools, Veeam Data Cloud is redefining how businesses approach data resilience, governance, and cyber security. Community feedback at the summit was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the simplicity, intelligence, and flexibility Veeam Data Cloud brings to modern IT strategies.

Veeam Vault – Immutable Off-Site Backup:

Veeam Vault was also highlighted as a game-changer for off-site backup immutability. It provides a secure, isolated, and encrypted cloud target for backup copies, ensuring compliance and resilience against ransomware and insider threats. Combined with the on-premises appliance, Veeam delivers end-to-end immutability and redundancy without complexity.

Real-World Impact – Simplicity, Flexibility, and Trust:

The new Veeam Software Appliance transforms any general purpose server into a powerful, secure backup solution. Customers can deploy quickly, manage updates centrally, and adapt hardware to their exact requirements—whether protecting a handful of workloads or scaling to thousands. The combination of performance, immutability, and hardware independence shows Veeam’s deep understanding of IT teams’ real needs, especially in hybrid and distributed environments.

Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO) v13: Proven, Automated Recovery Orchestration:

Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO) is a cornerstone of modern cyber resilience, delivering automation, compliance, and speed in disaster recovery scenarios. Here’s how VRO brings value, as illustrated by real-world dashboards and reports:

  • Automated Testing for Recovery Assurance
VRO automates the testing of recovery plans, ensuring organizations can proactively identify potential issues before a real disaster strikes. Automated tests highlight any impacts to recovery, providing confidence that plans will work when needed most.
  • Automated Documentation and Compliance
Maintaining up-to-date documentation for compliance and audits is a challenge. VRO eliminates this headache by automatically generating and updating documentation as recovery plans are created, tested, and executed. This ensures organizations are always ready for regulatory reviews and internal audits, with comprehensive, real-time records.
  • One-Click Recovery for Rapid Response
When every second counts, VRO enables one-click recovery, orchestrating the restoration of critical workloads from immutable backups. This minimizes downtime and accelerates the return to normal operations, regardless of the scale or complexity of the incident.
  • Advanced Malware Scanning and Reporting
VRO integrates advanced malware scanning into the recovery workflow. Before any system is restored, VRO can perform offline scans using antivirus engines and YARA rules, as shown in the detailed drill-down and audit reports:

-Drill-Down Malware Reports: VRO provides granular visibility into each restore point, indicating whether malware, viruses, or suspicious patterns (via YARA) are detected. For example, a report might show that out of five restore points for a virtual machine, three had malware issues, with clear indicators for each scan type.

-Audit Reports: These summarize the results of malware scans across multiple virtual machines and restore points, highlighting any failures or infected VMs. The reports detail which scans (malware flag, YARA, antivirus) passed or failed, and provide timestamps for full traceability.

This layered approach ensures that only clean, uncompromised data is restored, reducing the risk of reinfection and supporting forensic investigations.

Securiti AI: Trusted AI with Veeam:

One of the most talked-about announcements at the Veeam100 Summit in Prague was Veeam’s acquisition of Securiti AI, a leader in Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) and AI governance. This strategic move positions Veeam at the forefront of secure enterprise AI, combining robust backup and recovery with advanced data security, privacy, and compliance controls. SecuritiAI’s Data Command Center leverages a real-time knowledge graph to unify data intelligence, governance, and protection across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. By integrating SecuritiAI, Veeam will offer customers a single platform to discover, classify, and monitor sensitive data, enforce privacy and access controls, and ensure compliance with emerging AI regulations. The unified solution enables organizations to confidently run AI workloads, instantly recover and roll back data in case of rogue AI behavior, and unlock the full value of their data for innovation. Community feedback at the summit was enthusiastic, with many experts highlighting how this partnership will help enterprises accelerate safe AI adoption at scale, without compromising on security or resilience.

Community Voices:

Feedback from the Veeam100 Summit was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the transparency, the technical depth, and the chance to influence future product direction. The event also featured hands-on labs, breakout sessions on AI, orchestration, and cloud, and plenty of opportunities for networking and swag.

One of the things that continually amazes me about the Veeam100 community is its remarkable strength and spirit. What sets the Veeam100 community apart is its genuine inclusivity. Every year, Veeam welcomes new faces experiencing the summit for the first time. While much of the content may be unfamiliar to them, their seasoned members are always ready to offer guidance and support, ensuring that everyone feels at home from the very beginning. It’s inspiring to watch these initial connections blossom into lasting friendships.

This year, Veeam100 also tooks time for a heartfelt tribute to Brad Jervis, a cherished member of our community who sadly passed away earlier in 2025. In his memory, Veeam established an award to recognize someone who truly embodies the values of our group. The community voted, and Jim Jones was chosen as the inaugural recipient.

Thank you to the Veeam Teams and Community:

A heartfelt thank you to the Veeam product teams, organizers, and the entire Veeam community for making the Prague summit an unforgettable experience. Your passion, expertise, and collaboration continue to drive innovation and set new standards for data protection worldwide.
