Today there is the Microsoft experiences’16 event in Paris about Digital Transformation, Scott Guthrie (Executive Vice President, Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Group) has just announced 2 datacenters in France (Azure regions) in 2017 will be located near Paris and in South of France! It’s a good new for Veeam France because the second feature announcement of new Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 brings the full integration of the previously released stand-alone feature, Direct Restore to Microsoft Azure. This new, fully integrated feature provides businesses with the ability to optimize resource allocation to drive scalability and minimize cost — to efficiently extend Availability to the hybrid cloud. A user will be able to restore or migrate anything (Windows- and Linux-based VMs, physical servers or endpoints) to Microsoft Azure directly from within the Veeam Backup & Replication server on-premises.

Veeam – Error: Backup Console version ‘9.0.0.1491’ is…

Recently, I had a global backup error for one of my customer with Veeam Backup & Replication 9. We are seeing the following error which is causing backups to fail: “Error: Backup Console version ‘9.0.0.1491’ is not compatible with Installer service on host…“. Came across this error recently which is thankfully an easy fix but there is not a lot out there, the following is the error and the fix.

The Best Practices guide for Veeam Backup & Replication 9 is now available, it was developped by Veeam architects. This guide is intended for Backup Administrators or Consultants managing Veeam Backup & Replication on a daily basis. Most sections of this guide assume you already have hands on experience with Backup & Replication, and will serve as an “advanced user guide”, meaning that more basic usage information, system requirements and the like must be found in User Guide in Veeam Helpcenter. Backup Service does not start after Veeam B&R 9 U2 Install!

Update 2 for Veeam Backup & Replication 9.0 has been generally available for a week now, and Veeam has not much to report except one upgrade problem that seems fairly common. You can find more information about the release here. If you have minimal possible SQL permissions on the Veeam service account (“db_datareader” and “db_datawriter” roles only), then the service will not have enough privileges to make the required updates to the configuration database, causing it to fail to start after the upgrade. Veeam has tested and confirmed that temporarily lifting the role to “db_owner” allows the upgrade to complete. However, there were also a couple of users who said they had to grant sysadmin role (as “db_owner” was not enough), these cases have been investigated by Veeam so you can read more of this article!
