VeeamON New Orleans – Veeam Availability Suite 10 – Some new features announced!
_________

Updated on May 9, 2017:

Hello,

VeeamON actually starts in just 7 days from now! I’ll leave for NOLA on Sunday 14, 2017. We can meet on-premise if you want (@c_glemot). The number one reason to attend is specifically v10 – VeeamON will be where Veeam will first announce and demo top v10 features. According to Gostev v10 will be huge, just as you would expect from our 10th major release – so starting to learn about its capabilities in advance will let your company make more educated decisions for your 2018 IT investments. Besides, there also will be an incredible amount of field knowledge shared that you can use right now for Veeam products versions which are generally available.

Keep in touch.

Veeam Agent for Windows – Error Partition exceeds disk layout by…

Today, I met a backup error with Veeam Agent for Windows on a physical server (Microsoft). Following error “Partition exceeds disk layout by bytes” is causing backups to fail: “Partition 2 exceeds disk 1 layout by … bytes Error: The drive cannot find the sector requested. Error code: 27 Asynchronous read operation failed Failed to upload disk. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: The drive cannot find the sector requested. Error code: 27 Asynchronous read operation failed Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [114312]. Failed to download disk“.

Came across this error recently which is thankfully an easy fix but there is not a lot out there, the following is the error and the fix. Veeam Agent for Windows is available now in Beta version. There are three editions: “Free“, “Workstation” and “Server” being released that include enterprise features such as Application Aware Processing (VSS), flexible scheduling and retention options all while being able to backup directly to Cloud Connect repositories.

FIX (KB3216755) – Windows Server 2016 Data Deduplication, data corruption warning!

Hello, in the last word from Gostev, he explained major data corruption warning for the enterprises who have already jumped the much improved Windows Server 2016 deduplication for production use. Last week, Veeam has started to receive multiple reports on corruptions of backup files hosted on Windows Server 2016 NTFS volumes with Data Deduplication feature enabled. Luckily, the issue was easy to spot due to the system event log event (rarely the case by the way, as most storage-level corruptions go undetected – which is why it is extremely important to have storage-level corruption guard enabled in the advanced backup job settings at least when you are trying out new things). Yesterday, Microsoft released the known issue (KB3216755) to fix for Data Deduplication in Windows Server 2016 in the most recent Windows update package! More information about Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 here and on Veeam portal.
