[WEBINAR] Veeam Backup for Office365 v2: Saving your Data!

This week, I participated at Vanguard Summit 2018 in Prague as Veeam Vanguard. What is the #VeeamVanguard program? So many Vanguards, so many visions! About 45 Vanguards are here, from all over the world talking about community, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office365, Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Update 4 etc. In the upcoming Veeam Availability Suite v9.5 Update 4 release (Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 U4 and Veeam One 9.5 U4), Veeam announced some new features. Note: Veeam B&R 9.5 Update 4 should be available in the last quarter of 2018.

Then, I have the opportunity to participate in a live webinar in French as official Speaker (Veeam Vanguard) with Jeff Angama (Office365 Consultant) between Veeam, Microsoft and Monaco Informatique Service – Avangarde. Basically, we will present new version of Veeam Backup for Backup for Microsoft Office365 v2. Really excited doing this Deep Dive with him.

Hardening VMware and Backup

Hi, availability is based on policy-based mechanisms where data is often manually relocated to optimize cost and performance or to recover from a security intrusion. Tomorrow’s availability must evolve to a more autonomous model where the system reacts and adjusts automatically to any significant changes in the behavior of data, apps, or users anywhere across the enterprise. This level of automation is a big leap from where we are today. How can we bridge that gap from where we are to where we need to go? Keep in mind that Data Protection is crucial for ensuring the security of your data… My opinion is based on this Life Cycle: Data Protection = Cybersecurity approach + Data Governance + Modern Backup & Disaster Recovery. When we talk about Cybersecurity on an IT infrastructure, engineers have to apply some security rules to each component (server, storage, network etc.). This process is called “hardening”. Hardening has a true impact on the architecture (communication etc.), especially with the Modern Backup & Disaster Recovery environment. Microsoft ReFS – What’s new?

Hi! First, I took three weeks off around! Hope that everyone had a relaxing summer vacation and that you are ready to read new Blog posts! 🙂 As you know, while overall ReFS stability has much improved, there’s still one major issue with the ReFS driver memory management, which causes kernel memory usage to spike on large backup file deletions, sometimes causing server lockups. The workaround for this issue has been to throw lots of RAM at the backup repository server (1 GB RAM per 1 TB storage), which is obviously not ideal. Per Microsoft, this issue was resolved in the RS5 build (aka Windows Server 2019) quite a while ago, but initially, they did not plan to port it back to the RS1 build (aka Windows Server 2016) due to some significant complexities of this process.
