VeeamON New Orleans – Veeam Availability Suite 10 – Some new features announced!

In the upcoming Veeam Availability Suite v10 release (Veeam Backup & Replication 10 and Veeam One v10), Veeam announced some new features. Note: Veeam B&R 10 should be available in Q3 of 2017.

This week, I participated at VeeamON 2017 in New Orleans (United States) as Veeam Vanguard. It was the world’s premier availability event. Peter McKay, new co-CEO and President at Veeam Software told: “During the event, we shared our vision for how Veeam is committed to delivering seamless Digital Life experiences to users across the globe. With new innovations across Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Availability Platform, we are revolutionizing the way enterprises deliver ‘Always-On’ Cloud Availability and how they operate in Multi-Cloud environments. The feedback from the event has been outstanding. More will follow on this soon, but be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more news and information on VeeamON 2018, coming soon.” So, the next VeeamON 2018 will take place in Chicago, May 14 to 18, 2018!

Monitor your Veeam Agents from Veeam B&R console

One very interesting thing with Veeam Agent is the ability to monitor the agents via your centralized Veeam Backup & Replication console. You need to plan to install Veeam B&R 9.5 Update 1 (version 9.5.0.823) so that you can manage/track these jobs from your console. Here’s a guide on how once you have Veeam B&R 9.5 Update 1 installed, you can monitor agents from the console or add the existing agents to the console for monitoring. Note: You can follow this step by step guide to install Veeam Agent for Windows.

Hyper-V 2016 Overview and Architecture

Hyper-V is the Microsoft’s virtualization platform that allows creating virtual infrastructures under Windows and/or Linux. Virtualization makes it possible to cohabit in isolation several operating systems on the same physical server (Hypervisor). Virtualization takes place on the same hardware platform after installing specific software – hypervisor. The hypervisor is an additional layer between physical and virtual scopes, it manages the system’s hardware resources so they are distributed efficiently among virtual machines (VMs). Veeam is organizing the VeeamOn Forum in Paris this year with partner companies such as Nimble Storage, Quantum, and Exagrid. The planned presentations deal with both strategic topics and industry trends as well as technical aspects, which are important for the availability of data.

Keynote on strategic IT aspects:

The keynote is held by Peter McKay, COO of Veeam Software. The lecture is entitled Our Digital Future and is dedicated to the challenges that IT is facing by trends such as digital transformation and cloud computing.
