Veeam – Error: Backup Console version ‘9.0.0.1491’ is…

Recently, I had a global backup error for one of my customer with Veeam Backup & Replication 9. We are seeing the following error which is causing backups to fail: “Error: Backup Console version ‘9.0.0.1491’ is not compatible with Installer service on host…“. Came across this error recently which is thankfully an easy fix but there is not a lot out there, the following is the error and the fix.

Veeam B&R 9 Update 2

Cause:

The problem come from Veeam Backup proxy: “Backup console is not compatible with proxy ‘veeam’. Backup server version: ‘9.0.0.1491‘” and “Error: Backup Console version ‘9.0.0.1491’ is not compatible with Installer service on host…“.

Error

Re-installing the backup proxy role on this server does not work. All components are upgraded to the Veeam B&R main console version automatically. However, in OP’s case, he had the proxy running newer version than the console for some reason. Failed to rescan repository NAME error: “Backup Console Version ‘9.0.0.1491’ is not compatible with Installer service on host”. There would also be an error under “Manager Servers“, the backup repository would throw up the error when running a rescan:

Solution:

The easy fix is to patch Veeam to the latest available update, here “Update 2“. Once installed the error is cleared and the proxy and repository are working.
