Step by Step Guide Veeam Backup for Office365 v2 Installation

Yesterday, Veeam released Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 version 2 allows you to create backups of Microsoft Office 365 and on-premises Exchange and SharePoint organizations that contain users mailboxes, Microsoft SharePoint data, and OneDrive documents. Much-requested support for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business! Not just user files but also group mail, OneDrive, sites and also other SharePoint sites. To explore the backups, you can use Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange or Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint both of which come as part of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 distribution package. Veeam Explorers allow you to quickly recover users mailboxes, folders, messages, tasks, calendar items, and contacts. You can also restore your Microsoft SharePoint items and sites as well as Microsoft OneDrive documents. You can use the in-built send and save abilities to send any items as an attachment or save any items locally. You can even export Microsoft Exchange data using Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange functionality.

Running the Installer:

You have to run the installation file “Veeam.Backup365_2.0.0.567.exe”.

Installation Wizard:

Once the wizard is launched, click on “Next” button.

Read and accept License Agreement, click on “Next” button.

Select which component(s) you want to install. For example, you may have each component to be installed on a different server. By default, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 will be installed to the C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup365\ directory. To install to a different location, click Browse and specify the destination folder. Click on “Next” button.

Veeam will prompt to install the installation, click “Install”.

The upgrade took about a few minutes to complete.

Once the upgrade completed, a prompt appeared to finalize the installation. Click on “Finish” button.

Post Reboot:

When the installation is done, I recommend you to restart properly the Windows server (reboot).

Once the reboot completes and Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 version 2 software has been opened, click “OK” button to install a new license:

After you install Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365, you will have a free edition mode that allows you to process up to 10 user accounts in all organizations including 10 GB of Microsoft SharePoint data. Such mode suggests using a Free license, which is not limited in time, nor implies any limitations in terms of program functionality.

To install a fully-functional license, do the following, in the “License Information” dialog, click “Install” and specify the full path to the required “.lic” file.
